Apex, N.C. — Apex police have filed criminal charges against a man for allegedly breaking into a local church.
Mathew Brady Benson, 45, faces one count each of breaking and entering a place of worship and larceny after breaking and entering in the April 7 break-in at Faith Baptist Church of Apex.
An arrest warrant says a 32-inch flat-screen television and a laptop computer – a total value of approximately $1100 – were stolen from the church, at 1004 U.S. Highway 64.
The warrant lists Benson as being from Raleigh and having a Florida driver's license.
Court records indicate he has been held in the Wake County Detention Center since April 10 on several other charges, including breaking or entering a motor vehicle, misdemeanor larceny and possession of a controlled substance.
