Man, 32, arrested following Hoke County homicide

Deputies with the Hoke County Sheriff's Office were called to the 100 block of Gillis Hill Road in Raeford just before 8 p.m. in reference to a crash that was the result of one man chasing another and hitting his car.

RAEFORD, N.C. — One man was arrested Monday following a Sunday evening shooting in Hoke County.

Deputies with the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 100 block of Gillis Hill Road in Raeford just before 8 p.m. in reference to a crash that was the result of one man chasing another and hitting his car.

Upon arrival, deputies said they discovered Eric A. Terry, 31, of 114 Jackson Street in Red Springs, had been shot and killed.

Daniel Wells Cummings, 32, of 3856 Old Lowery Road in Red Springs, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Cummings was being held at the Hoke County Detention Center without bond.

The investigation is ongoing and authorities said more charges are expected.
