SILER CITY, N.C. — A 22-year-old Ramseur man died Friday morning after his car crashed into a creek in Chatham County.

Kenneth Dustin Welch was rounding a sharp curve on Coleridge Road near Wrenn Smith Road before dawn when the car went off a bridge and into a creek, according to authorities.

Troopers said it appeared that he was trapped and possibly drowned.

Authorities were trying to determine if the fog and damp roads played a part in the crash.
