Man, 20, charged in connection with two UNC assaults

Posted July 26, 2013

 Carroll Hall, UNC-Chapel Hill

— A 20-year-old Chapel Hill man has been charged with two counts of sexual battery in connection with separate assaults that happened on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus in the last month.

According to investigators, Dontay Awtwanne Rone "forcefully slapped" a female student on the buttocks shortly after 8:15 a.m. Thursday as she entered Carroll Hall.

Rone was also charged in connection with a June 20 incident in which a female student reported being touched on her buttocks after being followed from Franklin Street to the Paul Green Theater on campus.

Rone is not a student, UNC police said Friday.

Where is his picture so we the public can know who he is?

As expected - I am sure he will be out soon with a slap on the wrist. He is building up courage for a much worse crime.

Some articles and sources are better than others!

HockeyPlayerX I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm so sick of people wanting to be respected and "don't be a hater" and "don't judge me" and on and on. This country is going to (blank) in a handbasket

It's a shame that even news agencies have gotten so politically correct that they can't mention race in an article for fear of "offending" someone. Giving a description of someone isn't racially motivated, it's fact giving. Unbelievable.

What does this man look like? Whats his race? - COMMENT

What does his race matter once arrested? We are not on the look out for him, well, until he is bailed out.

Since this forum doesn't give racial description even in the still-at-large Duke Garden armed robbers, I'd ask why give the sex of the criminals?

The Daily Tarheel over in Chapel Hill always puts "someone" did this or that for police reports. The Tarheel will probably not even cover this story. WRAL remains the best website ever.

Obviously the public lacks the ability to not stereotype a whole race by the actions of an individual and WRAL is not going to deal with it. Trouble is, this policy makes the reporting the focus of stories, as now, and censorship causes a loss in confidence of reporting.

So I wonder what the penalty is for this kind of thing. Perhaps this guy needs to join a sports team where booty slapping is accepted when done as a form of celebration. Course unless he can join a female team, he will have to be content with male booty.
