Hoke deputies make arrests in gang-related homicide, retaliation shooting

Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said the two shootings are gang-related and that patrols have been increased in the Robins Heights and Scurlock communities to squelch further retaliations between the gangs.

Shawn-Quell Marquis Pleasant, 19, was found dead on a private drive behind 130 Malloy St. on May 26. He had been shot several times.

A few hours later, shots were fired at 365 Scurlock School Road, and at least four shots penetrated the home, authorities said. Three women and four youths were inside the home at the time.

The house belonged to a relative of Brandon Bernard Dockery, who was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder in Pleasant's death. Dockery, 22, of 113 Malloy St., was being held without bond in the Hoke County jail.

On Monday, Aaron Goode was arrested in Fayetteville in connection with the shooting at the Raeford house.

Goode, 21, of 464 Roanoke Drive, was charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling and failure to report a new address as a sex offender. He was being held under a $65,000 bond.
