Man, 18, charged in Wake Forest shooting

Wake Forest police arrested an 18-year-old man Friday in connection with the Nov. 22. shooting at 520 E. Juniper Ave.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — Wake Forest police arrested an 18-year-old man Friday in connection with the Nov. 22. shooting at 520 E. Juniper Ave.

Investigators said that Frederick Lamonte Gill, of 602 E. Pine Ave., shot Cornelius Antwan Jones, 22, in the leg.

Gill was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He was being held in the Wake County jail Friday under a $250,000 bond. His first court appearance was set for Monday.

Following his release from the hospital, Jones was also arrested on outstanding warrants. He was placed in the Wake County jail.

Jones has 18 convictions over the past five years, including multiple convictions for breaking and entering, larceny, dog theft and cruelty to animals, according to state Department of Correction records.
