An unidentified pedestrian died early Tuesday after being hit by a tractor-trailer on U.S. Highway 1 in Moore County, according to the State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the man walked out in front of the truck at about 12:30 a.m. near the N.C. Highway 24/27 bridge in Cameron. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said the driver of the tractor-trailer won't face charges.

The pedestrian did not have identification, and troopers are seeking the public's help to identify him.

He was white, between 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 165 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball hat, black New Balance shoes, jeans and a T-shirt when he was struck.

Anyone with information about the man's identity should call the North Carolina State Highway Patrol at 919-733-7952.
