Makeshift Bomb Explodes, 1 Injured

A 22-year-old man was injured when a makeshift bomb he was holding exploded Friday afternoon, the Johnston County Sheriff's Office said.

CLAYTON, N.C. — A 22-year-old man was injured when a makeshift bomb exploded at a Clayton home on Friday afternoon, the Johnston County Sheriff's Office said.

Adam Ford was holding the bomb when it exploded at a home in the 200 block of River Hills Drive. Ford suffered severe burns to his hands and was transported to WakeMed. He was listed in good condition on Sunday morning.

Deputies obtained a warrant to search the house for other possible explosive materials.

Officials said charges were pending in the incident.
