YAY! thank you so much! I am so excited for these great local gifts!

While I'm not crafty I do have lots of ideas, I would love to have the time to paint, draw, sketch. I bought a few starter things from the local craft store. If I could try anything it would be knitting and I wish I could sew even if it was just a button.

The sad part is that in this society, so many children are stationed in front of the television or video game console and parents are perfectly content with it. It's a built-in babysitter. As parents, we need to instill not only more outdoor time for our children but more craft time. It promotes the use of their imagination - something television and video games have practically taken away from them. To build their own little masterpieces, take ownership of them, and then be so excited to have it displayed in the house or as a gift to a family member or friend. It also builds their self confidence as they are having fun. The true joy of arts/crafts....I wish we all could take part in it a little more, especially with our children.

I remember as a child making crafts from my "head" and/or ideas/thoughts and not using a template or book to copy a craft. Today, we rely to heavily on the internet, books, tv, etc. for craft ideas. Arts/crafts are about each person's OWN INDIVIDUAL ideas, creativity & thoughts..which is what makes art, art!! I was an activity director in an elderly, Alzheimer's Unit many years ago...one of the greatest jobs I ever had. When we would do a craft project, one of the most fun and amazing one we would do, was to just use a glue stick and paste misc pieces of torn, colored construction paper on a blank white "canvas" making a "picture" from their heads/thoughts...then I would ask them what they made & write it on the bottom of their canvas. The most amazing responses would come from their mouths. With Alzheimer's we tend to think they have "forgotten the past and everything about their lives" but they would ALWAYS tell me the picture was something from their past as a child...interesting.

I love painting with my son. I'm not very good, but there's something special about creating a masterpiece (despite how it may turn out) and calling it your own. We painted pottery as Christmas gifts this year, and I painted wine glasses this year to raise money for Breast Cancer. We've also painted canvass as wall art for our new home - they hang in my bedroom so I can cherish them every day. It's not the final product that means so much, it's remembering the effort and fun it took to make the pieces and being able to cherish that distinct moment every time you look at your craft. What great memories for both my son and me!?! May we all cherish these special moments with our little ones, particularly this holiday season...

I love making arts and crafts and also drawing. I wish that I had more time to do them, especially with my girls.

I am NOT crafaty! I wish I was but- I simply am not! My mother was - she was always making osmehting! Knitting or croceting and she tried to teach me but - I just am not!

I'm pretty craft when it comes to making sentimental items with my baby, but I just wish I had more time to do more! I also wish I knew how to crochet, but my attention span is almost 0! :)

There's a bunch of stuff I'd love to be able to do, but I already have so many projects on my plate! Today I make Christmas tree ornaments out of Shrinky Dinks, and I've done TONS of sewing this season.

I love all types of art and crafts. I just this week made my 4 year old daughter a bed for her 18" doll. I am not the best at sewing, but it actually worked and turned out OK!
