Jason Robinson, a single dad in Apex, came up with his idea for CupCaps after an outdoor dining experience with his former girlfriend's daughter. As I wrote in my original feature of Robinson in June, the flies would not stop swooping into their drinks.

So Robinson, a fan of Shark Tank who is always looking for a product to create, got to work and eventually developed CupCaps, a small baseball cap that fits on top of most standard cups. It comes with a lid and straw.

For more than a year, he's been working hard to get his product into the marketplace, selling online, at events and at college and university gift shops. Robinson tells me that he's working on more deals, but football season has been good for the company.

"We have seen sales increase throughout the football season," he tells me. "It's definitely a fan favorite as we have gone to many games and seen hundreds of people with their CupCaps."

These would make a great gift, especially for fans of some of the local and regional colleges and universities. The CupCap sells for $9.95. The CupCap combo with a cup sells for $13.95.

Robinson sells CupCaps for fans of N.C. State, Appalachian State, ECU, Hampton, North Carolina A&T, N.C. Central, Winston-Salem State on his website.
