Lynda Loveland: Mood buster
Posted November 13, 2013
Kids can say such innocent things but have such a big impact.
Last weekend, we were all at a soccer tournament out of town. My older two were playing, so we were bouncing around from game to game. After a particularly tough loss, we were heading to a restaurant for lunch.
We were bummed. We were all tired from lack of sleep in the hotel. We were arguing about nothing. Then we realized we were heading to the right restaurant but the wrong location to meet up with the team. Thank you, Google maps.
Let's just say the crabby factor was in full play. The adults weren't spared. No one was talking. We were all looking out of our windows. Maybe you've had a similar experience.
Then, spotting a sign, my son asks, "What's Rubbie Tuesday?" My husband and I turned to look at each other and we burst into laughter. My oldest daughter corrected him saying no, it's Ruby Tuesday. But in a split second the tension had lifted and our mood improved. Gotta love the things kids say.
By the way, Caiden DID get to trick or treat for Halloween. The child had a ball running around the neighborhood with his friends.
