Lynda Loveland: Just the good stuff!

Posted October 9, 2013

Lynda Loveland

I’ve been writing this blog for a few years now and you’ve read all kinds of stories about my kids: The good, the bad and the ugly.

There were probably more in the “bad” and “ugly” category. Around this time last year, I wrote about my two oldest kids maxxing out their strike chart and missing out on trick or treating. It was a hard lesson, but it was definitely learned!

Anyway, how about some good stories? I thought I would open it up for everyone to write some good news about their child. Parenting is full of days where it feels like you’re getting your butt kicked so why not play up the positive on the other days!

Here’s my good news. My daughter Campbell, the animal enthusiast/soccer-loving tomboy, made the Art Club at school! She was beaming when she came out of their first meeting. And my son Caiden, best described as a school non–enthusiast, has been working very hard with his tutor and most excellent teacher to raise his grades to another level. THAT, makes me smile!

Your turn!

While getting ready to go out for the evening, my five year old said, "Wow, Momma! You look nice! Don't forget your earrings." Makes me feel like I am raising a thoughtful, considerate little boy.

I was not Blessed to have children. While sleeping on the sofa at my sisters house, I felt something up against me. My three year old neice had gone to her bedroom and gotten her favorite blanket and was covering me with it. I felt so incredibly loved.

My oldest son started at Barton College this year and has really turned into a mature young man. He's going to college, working part-time, playing on a baseball team and coaching a 5-6 year old baseball team. He stays busy but he loves it!!! My youngest son who is 11 is working alittle harder this year with school...keeping my fingers crossed with him!! haha

My 7 year old is exerting his self confidence this year. He's proud of his hard work that he's doing in class. Last year was an absolute nightmare - constant teasing from classmates and little to no response from his teacher. This year, he has an amazing teacher and his classmates are more accepting. Most days, he is actually looking forward to going to school instead of dragging him out of the house!

My HS freshman daughter broke up with a boy to concentrate on getting used to high school and in her exact words " I need to get with the program".

Nothing you do for children is ever wasted especially that which influences their self-esteem!
