Lynda Loveland: 20 years of miracles

Posted February 5, 2014

Lynda Loveland

A two-year-old boy from Pitt County is running around, squealing with delight, because of Duke.

He developed a serious case of RSV a year ago and was near death. His local hospital could do nothing else for him. His parents couldn’t accept that and called Duke Children’s Hospital. A crew from Duke went to get the toddler, stabilized him and brought him back to Durham.

Fast forward one year and he’s running down the halls, HEALTHY!!!

It’s one of the many miracles at Duke. Next Tuesday, we begin our 20th Radiothon for Duke Children’s Hospital. This will be my sixth year. I never knew how strong the human spirit is or how brave a young child could be until I did my first Radiothon. I saw firsthand how important it is to support the lifesaving, lifegiving, efforts at the hospital. It’s an investment that pays off in lives, in children living their lives.

Your children. My children. Our children.

Please take some time to listen to our Radiothon next Tuesday and Wednesday and be inspired. You can donate early online if you wish. And one important note: 100 percent of your donation supports the Radiothon. There are NO administrative costs. Click here to learn more about how you can help.

Thank you!

If I understand this story's author...

Scientific Method + Several years of strict learning and study + Years of on the job training + Modern drugs = "miracle"

    Nice. (sarcasm)

This boy was saved by humans. ...helping other humans. Don't give credit to something else...something that, at least, could have prevented it and, at most, caused it.

Thank you, Doctors, nurses, and everyone in between for saving this two-year old boy!

    (That's how you do it.)
