The Lumina Theatre's outdoor movie series in Southern Village starts up this weekend with screenings of "Big Hero 6."

The movies take place on Southern Village's green, typically on Friday and Saturday evenings at dusk, which is usually about 8:15 p.m. The series runs through September and will include a mix of family-friendly fare and options for older audiences. Tickets are $5 per person.

The full schedule isn't available. You can check on Southern Village's website, Facebook or Twitter pages throughout the summer for updates, but the first three movies are up.

They are the PG-rated "Big Hero Six," a new favorite for my family, this weekend. The PG-rated "Cinderella," which my kids and I absolutely loved, is set for May 22 and May 23. "Back to the Future," which is rated PG, is scheduled for June 6.

Southern Village is located off 15-501 South in Chapel Hill.
