Lumbees Get Federal Housing Grant

Posted — UpdatedWASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on Tuesday awarded the Lumbee tribe a $12.7 million grant to build more affordable housing for tribe members and to improve crime prevention.
The U.S. House in June approved a bill recognizing the Lumbees. The Senate hasn't yet approved the measure, which would clear the way for the tribe to receive more federal assistance.
