Lowes Foods Super Doubles brag thread!

Posted August 24, 2013

Time to share your Super Doubles totals, what you bought and how it went! Let's hear it - how did you do?

For  a list of deals, click on the link in the box above.

Here are my savings from my  Wednesday morning shop:

Total before sales and coupons: $77.10

Paid: $6.65

Total saved: $70.45

% saved: 91%

I bought Kraft cheese slices, Chobani Champions Greek yogurt, InnovAsian meals, McCains sweet potato fries, Balance bars, Barilla pasta meals, Ragu pasta sauce (using a $1 coupon that a friend found on a display a while ago - thanks Linda!), Nestle cookie dough, Jell-O pudding cups, Kraft Recipe Makers.

The only coupon that would not scan correctly was the Chobani coupon. The register indicated that the product didn't match the coupon, even though it matched exactly. Took her a bit to verify but she did put it through.

Thanks to Lowes for offering the promotion!

DianeNC - with my calculation, they owe me about $13 dollars. I'm not looking forward to going back, but hope the manager is nice when I do. I didn't have time to deal with it today and knew my total would be a little off with the two I had with me throwing stuff in the basket.

Savvy - I will check and let you know. I miss our group too.

I shopped the Clayton store this morning. There were a few out of stock items popular this Super Doubles, like Cheer detergent and Super Pretzels and the Quaker oatmeal medleys (I think, am trying to picture it) but employee was stocking the Kraft cheese as I shopped. He had already put out what I wanted, but I am sure I could have asked for another variety as he had a cartful of product he was working through. I am trying to decipher my receipt to see if I received overage. On one item, price was 3.95, coupon was $2 and I can see where $2 then $1.95 came off so no overage there. I did buy Reach floss for $1.59, used $1 coupon and had a store coupon for 20% off health and beauty and can see where .32 came off for that but having trouble finding the coupon and the 59 cents or 27 cents.....hmmm.
I find the Clayton store always to be friendly and today was no exception.

LAXMom - I meant to ask you - Do you have any $3/1 Huggies diapers coupons I can have?? I might have coupons you may want. I miss our coupon swap group!

It turns out that they're including packaged deli meat (like Land O'Frost and packages of Hormel Salami) under that "meat" category that they're not discounting. Again, there was no signage in this section stating this. There certain frozen foods that you would think belonged in the frozen food section, but because they had them in the "meat" section, they said they were not discounted.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that, surprisingly, beer is 25% off as well (but not wine - that will be returned to the manufacturers.)

One quick deal I wanted to share - International Delight creamers are $2.19 (regular price). There's a printable coupon somewhere ( for $1.00/1, which once doubled and the 25% discounted applied, makes them free.

(The cashier was under the assumption because it was in the dairy section that it did not get the 25% off, but I asked one of the managers/asst. managers who were in the area, and they said they did get the discount.) *shrug*

Although my short trip to the Lowes Foods in Cary yesterday during my lunch hour yesterday went smoothly, I can't say the same for my return trip on the way home.

My total ended up being over $14, which I knew didn't sound right, because several of my coupons made many of my items free (like Kikkoman, etc.), but the store was closing for the night, and I had a line of people behind me, so waited until I got home to figure things out.

Turns out that the cashier did not apply the 25% store closing discount - at all. In addition, although the press release states that meat is not included in the store closing discount, in the actual store, there's no such signage in certain areas (and in several cases, no prices), so as LAXMom and Savvysaver shared, you really need to be careful and just ask to be sure.

Savvy - I agree. I will stop by when I am over there next week to get my extra discount and refunds.

For those considering going to the Cary store that's closing - All in all, it was worth the trip for me! I reached 90% savings. They have snacks, cereals, baby items, and lots of other items in stock. Not much to be had in meats, frozen, or cheeses. As LAXMom said, you have to pick and choose carefully, not all items are great deals. And Check your receipt before leaving!

I went to LF in Cary that's closing. Ran into LAXMom!!! After 2 trips to customer service to get refunds, I spent $9.29, Saved $83.39! I bought 4 packs of yogurt, 3 Bounty towels, 1 Scott Natural 6 pack of towels, 3 boxes of Ben's Rice, 4 tubs of Huggies wipes, 2 Smart Balance butters, 4 cans of Pringles, 1 Jiff Hazelnut spread, 2 Honey Graham snack bags, 3 Bush's grillin beans, and 2 Vanity Fair napkins.

LAXMom - I caught the Angel Soft price mistake and got a refund! Not sure I'll make another trip up was too much stress and confusion!

Went to the Lowes Food that was closing in Cary and spent $58.43 and saved $92.16. I'm not too happy about a couple of things: Lots of things are marked incorrectly (ex. Angel Soft tissue was 10/$10 but it was a double roll in the slot and did not ring up that way - Sorry Savvy) and she took my 25% off after the groceries. She held my cards until last and rang them up after the 25% off was taken. I'm going to call and check because that was at least $10 more that would have come off. When it was 10%, they took it off after my cards. There is still a good amount of stock at this point in the process, but you have to pick and choose what is really a good deal.

Went to the Lowes Foods at Hwy 42/Hwy 50 today. Found almost everything I wanted in stock other then the Barilla pasta meals. That shelf was bare.

Subtotal before sales and coupons: $98.88

    Total saved: $83.09

    Total paid: $15.79

    % Saved: 84%

I bought a few non coupon items including mini bagels, sugar & Jif PB. Those items totaled $8 alone.

Here's another reason to get rainchecks. I scored 3 free boxes of Kelloggs Mini Wheats Crunch using a rain check from last week where you get each bos for $2.79 AND get another $3 off the total when you buy 3 boxes. I used 2 of the $1.50/1 coupons from and a .50/1 coupon from the back of the box of a previously purchased box. After all discounts - all 3 were free with a little overage as well.

    Have a great Saturday, everyone!
