Lowes Foods Super Doubles brag thread!

Posted July 26, 2013

Groceries bought at Lowes Foods Super Doubles

Here's the place to share your Super Doubles totals and experiences. What were your favorite deals, did your coupons double correctly, did the store have good stock? We want to know!

For the list of Super Doubles deals, click the link in the box above. Wishing you all plenty of super savings at Super Doubles!

Here are my totals from Wednesday, 7/24:

Total before sales and coupons: $110.63

Total saved: $89.16

Total paid: $21.47

% Saved: 81%

Although it is not a 95% savings like we often see on the first day of Harris Teeter super doubles, I am very pleased with the total considering I purchased laundry detergent, pizza, produce, cereal, and granola bars!  The 3 bottles of Wisk alone would have been $20.97 at full price.

As you can see in the picture above, I bought a few non-coupon items including Thomas' mini bagels, red grapes and peaches. I used coupons for everything else.

I am so glad I have been saving my Kelloggsfamilyrewards.com points. I used a number of those coupons today for free cereal and granola bars.

The Trident/Stride coupon came from a tear pad display in Lowes Foods (I think that is where I found it) last week. The Trident is on sale for .80 each so after the $1/3 coupon doubled, they are 13 cents each.

The $1 Activia coupon I have came from a fellow blog reader (THANK YOU!) It looks like it came from a tear pad but not sure where she got it.

The details for the rest of the coupons I used can be found in the Good Deals List link in the box above.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your totals!

A few things I found when I went on Friday (BrierCreek) that I don't think I've seen posted:

    Colgate mouthwash (8.4 oz) - $3 (used $1 off any Colgate mouthwash (expires 7/27) = $1

Butterball frozen ground turkey or turkey sausage (1 lb) - 2.99 (use $1 off Butterball coupon (Expires 7/28) = .99

    2 packs ID gum - .80 or 4/$5 (use $1 off 2 single packs or 1 multipack, expires 7/28) = free!

BIC pens - some are $1, some are 2/$3. Either way they're free with the recent $1.50/2 BIC coupon from Facebook

Hormel Sandwich makers - $2.39 (use $1 off coupon; expires 7/29) = .39 *I've been wanting to try these for a while but refused to pay anywhere near this price so I'm excited to try them!

    :-)

Faye - Lowes Foods own website for online shopping was showing that their store did, in fact, carry this item, and that it was on sale. As I mentioned, he wasn't familiar with the online shopping portion of their website and allowed me to actually show him how to access it. He volunteered to check the two neighboring stores, which also showed that they carried this item, and they also didn't have a clue.

He said that they wouldn't see the vendor who carries that item until Tuesday, and since their SD sale would basically be over by the time the vendor ordered and received this item, he volunteered to honor the SD value of the coupon on the rain check.

It may not be normal for them to do what he did, but I was thankful that he offered to do so - for the first time, I felt like I actually received a little bit of the great customer service I usually only get at HT.

Diane - not every store carries every item, especially the smaller Lowes Foods stores. If they don't carry it in their store, it is not at all unusual that they would not know what the product is.

It is not normal for them to write a rain check to allow your coupon to double for a product they do not carry. Especially since Lowes Foods rain checks are usually only accepted at the store you got the rain check from. I can't imagine why the manager would have done that.

I made a second trip today (I have more Wisk coupons coming probably on Monday so I will probably go one more time). Today I got 3 Pledge floor cleaners, 1 Hormel Country Crock Mashed Potatos (mark down plus a coupon), 2 Right Guard Xtreme Deorderent, 3 boxes of M&M Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches, and 1 very large package of chicken thighs. OOP was 17.91, saved 37.15 (67.5%).

Made my first trip to one of my local Lowes Foods today for just a few items (not organized enough yet, LOL). Believe it or not, not only did no one I talked to who worked there know what the Starbucks Refreshers was (it's not a new item...), but they didn't know they had it on sale, either. I offered to show the manager this info on their online shopping portion of their website, and he had never even used this feature of their store before, LOL. I showed him how to use it to find what's on sale, etc., and sure enough it showed that this was on sale at their store, as well as the two local Lowes Foods. It gets even better (or worse, LOL) - he called the two local stores, and they didn't carry it or know anything about it either. *rolls her eyes*

The manager was kind enough to write on a rain check to honor doubling my coupon if/when they get this item in stock, but just found the whole experience very interesting.

    What a nice find, Juanita!

I went to Lowes Foods today and everything I planned to purchase was in stock. Love that. Paid $9.91 for $60.68 worth of products including peaches, grapes and bananas. Saved 84%. :-)
