Oh my - the sirloin tip roast was divine in the slow cooker tonight, jdouglas and scoutmom! I added an envelope of Lipton onion soup mix to 1 cup water, put the roast on top of cut onions, put garlic and pepper on top of roast, added 8 oz sliced mushrooms to top of roast, poured onion soup/water mixture over it and cooked for about 5.5 hours on low until cooked (it was a smaller 2 lb roast). Then added a sour cream, flour and broth mixture for last 30 minutes to thicken and it made a wonderful stroganoff over noodles. Everyone loved it and requested it again for next week! I will be stocking up on this roast this week. You really need the slow cooker before winter sets in....which appears to be coming sooner than later based on the amazing weather tonight.

I know what you mean I need to get a slow cooker to and a small freezer.

  • jdouglas13 Aug 14, 2013

I really have to get a slow cooker. This is getting ridiculous. A sirloin tip would be lovely in a slow cooker!

Went this morning (after a very early HT shop!) and bought $65.18 worth of products for $13.34.

This included a sirloin tip roast, grapes, roma tomatoes, 3 boxes of cereal, 2 Angel Soft tp 4-packs (the .45 coupon did double making them 10 cents each), 2 Go-gurt boxes, 4 Kozy Shak pudding, 1 De waffelbakers pancakes. Very pleased with LF deals this week!

Good tip on the kabobs, jdouglas. I have the roast int he slow cooker right now but plan to buy another before next Tuesday. Beef and veggie kabobs sound like a great way to cook it.

The coupon booklet also has a coupon for Chobani Champions Greek yogurt for kids. My daughter loves that stuff!! I can't find the Johnsonville coupon when I use that link but I'll keep trying.

  • jdouglas13 Aug 14, 2013

Just a reminder that for those of you who like to grind your own chopped meat or have the store do it for you from a roast, the sirloin tip roast for $2.99 will make very nice ground sirloin.

For non-chopped meat lovers, it will also make nice beef kabobs, cut into cubes and marinated. My fave marinade for that is low sodium soy sauce or tamari, evoo, and garlic.

Has anyone tried the Lowes boxed mac & cheese? Is there any difference in the packet of cheese powder compared to Kraft?

  • scoutmomof2 Aug 14, 2013

Cool, I have those Kozy shack coupons too. And I still have a stash of pepsi coupons I got off ebay (I hate that their policy is changing).

  • TJ84 Aug 14, 2013

So glad I looked at this before going back to HT to get the Kozy Shack pudding. Thanks Faye
