Lower humidity, plenty of sun expected behind cold front
A cold front that generated strong thunderstorms across much of the Triangle Tuesday night was pushing eastward toward the coast Wednesday morning, setting the stage for a "beautiful" day that should include much less humid conditions.

"We're going to see noticeably lower dew points as we go through the day, and the lower the number, the less muggy and sticky it feels outside," WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said. "By late in the day today, we could see those dip into the upper 50s after they were in the 70s Tuesday."
Northerly winds will help usher the more pleasant air into the region, and the shift in pattern will help keep high temperatures in the mid- and upper-80s for the bulk of the area.
Rain chances will also go down for the rest of the week and throughout the weekend, Gardner said.
"Our seven-day forecast looks quite nice. We'll stay in this pleasant air mass through the work week before warming up slightly over the weekend," she said.
Highs Thursday and Friday should stay in the mid- and upper-80s as sunshine stays put. On Saturday and Sunday, highs will likely climb back into the low 90s.
"We will see temperatures jump a bit more to start next week. We could end up in the mid-90s Monday, but those types of days will start to become much less frequent as we push on toward September," Gardner said.
