Christina Kodesh, the mom behind the local chapter of Loved Twice, tells me she is looking for more donations of baby clothes to give to needy moms.
Kodesh launched the local chapter nearly two years ago. I featured her back in 2011 when she first got started. The group collects clothes for babies during their first year of life. Kodesh collects the items and then boxes up a years worth of clothes in sizes newborn to 12 months to give to social workers and agencies. Moms get a box, based on their child's gender, with about 75 pieces of clothing, including hats, socks and a small board book.
Since September 2011, Kodesh has donated 149 boxes totaling 1,812 pounds of clothes. She made her first donation for 2013 of 10 boxes to Duke Medical Center in January. And in April, she will be working with Novartis during their Community Partnership Day.
Kodesh tells me took a few months off from soliciting donations so she could organize the hundreds of pounds of items she had at her home. She's now ready to start collecting again.
She needs clothes in sizes newborn to 12 months, board books and copy paper boxes with lids.
