LOUISBURG, N.C. — Louisburg College, a residential two-year college, is offering new grants and scholarships for college students in Eastern North Carolina affected by Hurricane Matthew.

For the semester that begins Jan. 11, the school is offering “Helping Hurricane Grants” to those in federal disaster areas who were enrolled in classes when Matthew hit.

“If a student’s community college experience has been disrupted by the loss of their home, we want to help,” said Dr. Mark La Branche, Louisburg College president.

The school will offer grants and scholarships equal to or greater than the cost of a room in a residence hall for the spring semester. Along with the Helping Hurricane Grants, Louisburg College will be waiving the application fee for any student from severely affected counties who apply for the Spring semester.
