Longtime WRAL staffer is 'Spectacular' Man of the Year

WRAL producer/director Clarence Williams is among 24 men nominated by Durham-based Spectacular Magazine for the publication's Man of the Year award. An online voting process will determine eight winners in six categories, and they will be announced during a banquet June 13.

WRAL Producer/Director Clarence Williams is Durham-based Spectacular Magazine's Man of the Year. 

Williams, who was nominated for his community service work, received the honor during a banquet Thursday evening.

He has worked at WRAL for 46 years and volunteers with numerous organizations including the Interfaith Food Shuttle, Explorer Scouts, Learning For Life programs that teach job skills and Catholic Prison Ministries. He also teaches nonprofit organizations how to develop and produce community television programs to advocate for their causes.

Williams is an adjunct instructor of broadcast journalism at Shaw University and St. Augustine's University. He’s also a former Army Ranger and Vietnam veteran.

Man of the Year awards were also given in the following categories: business and economic development, civil and human rights, education, health and emerging leader.
