Lochmere residents OK purchase of pools, tennis courts

Cary, N.C. — Residents of the Lochmere neighborhood in Cary have approved the homeowners association's purchase of swimming and tennis facilities.
Although the facilities and the HOA share a name and location, homeowners who want to use the club have had to pay an additional membership fee to the privately owned, non-profit corporation that runs the club.
When financial pressures moved the corporation to close the facilities, the HOA proposed raising dues by $260, to $578 a year, to take it over.
The plan was approved by 72 percent of HOA members who cast ballots in a recent vote, officials said Friday. The HOA could take ownership by the end of the year.
The three pools, 10 tennis courts and two clubhouses are located on Lochmere Drive and in the Lochmere Highlands subdivision.
