Raleigh, N.C. — Correction: This event is on Wednesday, Feb. 27, not Thursday, Feb. 21, as previously written.
Based on the Food Network TV show "Cupcake Wars," Sugarland pastry chefs will be paired with local celebrities and then race against the clock to make a delicious cupcake based on a secret theme. The winning team will get $1,000 donated to the charity of their choice.
We're rooting for WRAL-TV anchor Debra Morgan in the competition. Other participating celebs include WQDR 94.7’s morning DJ Mike Weless, UNC football’s Coach Fedora, and The Biggest Loser’s Ed & Heba.
Raleigh's very own Cupcake War starts at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Sugarland in Cameron Village.
The competition is just the start of Sugarland's birthday celebrations – all month the cupcake shop will have specials and other events. In March, Sugarland is hosting another interactive competition in which local charities will have the chance to win $500. Participating organizations will be give a hashtag for their supporters to use on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook showing themselves at Sugarland with some delicious treats. At the end of the month, the charity with the most posts using their hashtag and Sugarland's will win the prize.
Anything involving dessert, fundraisers and social media, and we're in! Anyone else excited for Sugarland's events?
