This sounds like a great way for families and kids to help with the relief efforts ....

A Raleigh running club has teamed up with a moving company to collect and deliver items to the hardest hit areas of Superstorm Sandy along the Jersey Shore. The area is now bracing for a second hit from another expected storm.

Jill Dykes, a local mom who is part of the club and hails from Point Pleasant, N.J., had started collecting items to mail home when her friends with the River Run Club heard about what she was doing and, as she told me, "took the baton and ran with it (pun intended)."

Since then, Excel Moving & Storage has joined the effort to donate a truck and driver to deliver the supplies. Now the group needs the public's help to fill the truck. They will be collecting items from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, at the Falls River Shopping Center (in the Food Lion parking lot) in north Raleigh.

The items will be distributed through Your Grandmother's Cupboard, a non-profit in New Jersey.
Supplies needed include:
Laundry detergent
Batteries in all sizes
Cleaning supplies
Garbage bags
Paper products such as paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
Baby products, like diapers/wipes
Blankets and Sleeping Bags
Coats, hats, gloves
Hand and feet warmers
Deodorant
Shampoo
Toothpaste and toothbrushes
Disposable razors
Bars of soap

Sanitary hygiene products
