— Southern Living magazine recently released its list of 100 Best Restaurants in the South and 10 North Carolina restaurants made the cut.

The first 10 restaurants on the list are curator Jennifer V. Cole's favorite new restaurants and the remainder are her favorite restaurants, new and old, for 2014.

Here's a list of those North Carolina restaurants:

Southern Living offers recommendations on what to order at each restaurant, including Atlantic Beach Pie at Crook's Corner, Chilled Poached Shrimp with Smoked Tomato at Poole's, and Huevo Diablo at Mateo Tapas.

What's your favorite restaurant on the list?

I'm sure that Crooks Corner will not miss you ONE BIT! After all, they won a James Beard award a couple of years ago and their head chef wins awards yearly. Sounds like you need to stick with your box of Ramen noodles and leave dining reviews to others.

I agree with TJPC about Crooks Corner. I went back after having not gone in years, it was just mediocre at best. Mateo in Durham is a great place for tapas, their local hams are delicious.

Crooks Corner..ugh...have been there 3 times and would never go back. Longevity in Chapel Hill does not equal good food. Mediocre food and service at best.
Lantern is excellent and Mateo in Durham is one of my favorites as well.
