— Firewurst, one of our favorite local chains, just launched its “10,000 for 10,000” Summer Hunger Campaign in an effort to raise money for the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina’s Stop Summer Hunger Program.

In July, Firewurst has set a goal to sell 10,000 hot dogs and donate $10,000 in proceeds to the program, which works to feed children in 34 counties who do not have a guaranteed meal every day in the summer when school is out of session.

The restaurant chain, with locations in Cary and Raleigh, specializes in hot dogs, sausages and bratwurst. We visited them a little while ago to learn more about this family-run chain.

In honor of this fundraiser and National Hot Dog Month, Firewurst is also introducing a brand new hot dog. The Certified Angus Beef hot dog, which is MSG, allergen and gluten free, is made with a custom blend of all-natural spices and seasonings and is free of artificial flavors and binders.
