Local Kentucky Derby parties
The 142nd Kentucky Derby is this Saturday, and if you can't make it to Louisville, at least you can attend one of the Triangle's Derby Day events:
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — The 142nd Kentucky Derby is this Saturday and will be broadcast on WRAL-TV and 99.9 The Fan. If you can't make it to Louisville, at least you can attend one of the Triangle's Derby Day events:
Derby Day at the Washington Duke Inn in Durham: The English-style Durham inn will be celebrate the Derby all day long with TV coverage, brunch, afternoon tea, Triple Crown cocktails and a three-course dinner at 5:30 p.m. for $35 per person.
Talk Derby to Me Party at the Hibernian Pub in Raleigh: This Irish pub is hosting an afternoon filled with hats, horses, bourbon and bowties at their North Raleigh location. $10 tickets give party-goers access to multiple TVs for viewing the Derby, party giveaways and a "best hat" contest. A cash bar and the restaurant's full menu will be available.
Kentucky Derby Day at University Club in Durham: Put on your fancy hats, seersucker suits and cheer on your favorite horse as you watch the Kentucky Derby and listen to music at the University Club's 2nd Derby celebration. Chef-prepared food, Mint Juleps and other libations will be served. Tickets are $40 per person.
Kentucky Derby Celebration at the Mad Hatter in Fuquay-Varina: This whimsical hat and tea shop will celebrate the Derby with Kentucky bourbon cupcakes, beverages and funny photo opportunities with the some of the store's many eclectic hats.
Kentucky Derby Celebration at The Mayton Inn in Cary: The area's newest boutique hotel will show the Derby from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the lounge and bar area. While you're there, you can try one of their made-from-scratch cocktails or order a bite to eat from The Verandah.
