I'm excited to share that Listen to Your Mother, a live show featuring local writers and their thoughts on all that's good, exhausting, frustrating and wonderful about motherhood, will make a stop in Raleigh in May.

The national show teams up with local producers and directors to organize regional performances. The show here is being led by two local moms - Marty Long and KeAnne Hoeg.

It's set for 7:30 p.m., May 8, at Kenan Auditorium, on the campus of William Peace University in downtown Raleigh.

I'm going to have much more about this show as we move forward. But, a few details: There will soon be information about auditioning for the show. Writers do not need to be moms or even female. They don't need to have any stage or writing experience. They just need to have their own original and true story to share about motherhood or their mother.

This isn't an open mic kind of performance. Participants must audition and be selected. The show is directed, produced and rehearsed, according to the website. A portion of all ticket sales benefit nonprofit groups.

I'll have more details. Long tells me that they'll have more information about submissions and auditions soon. So stay posted!
