We are less than a month away from Listen to Your Mother, the national show featuring live readings by local writers.

The local event is set for May 8 at Kenan Hall on the campus of William Peace University in downtown Raleigh. It's led by local bloggers/moms/writers KeAnne Hoeg and Marty Long.

The event features stories of motherhood by moms, dads and anybody else who has something to say about the topic. The show started in Madison, Wis., in 2010. Local shows are now held across the country around Mother's Day.

At each show, 10 percent of the ticket proceeds help a local non-profit. Here in the Triangle, it's SAFEchild, which works to intervene in and prevent child abuse.

Long and Hoeg have finalized their cast list for the show. They are Jane Albright, Daniele Berman, Ronnie Bower, Jmeka Cherrel, Ilina Ewen, Erin Lane, Michele Lynn, Liisa Ogburn, Lindsay Onofrio, Dawson Roark, Cyndi Soter O'Neil, Debby Torres, and Jennifer Weickum. The list also includes Hoeg and Long.

Tickets are now on sale. They are $15 each and can be purchased by clicking here. For details about the show and the cast members, check the RDU Listen to Your Mother page
