Thousands of runners came out on early Saturday morning to participate in the 11th Annual Krispy Kreme Challenge on February 14th, 2015 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Participants ran from North Carolina State University's Bell Tower to a Krispy Kreme to consume numerous donuts, and then run back to the bell tower. (Photo By: Lexi Baird / WRAL Contributor)

— I'm not a runner. I like to do run/walks on the treadmill or through the park, but I'm not capable of doing a half-marathon. Maybe with some training, but my cap is 4 miles - a far cry from 13.1.

But I love 5Ks. The best thing about a 5K is that trained runners and regular people like us can enjoy them. It's a manageable distance - 3.1 miles. It's a great way to burn some calories and you don't have to run the entire time. You can even walk the whole thing if you want.

Here are a few 5Ks coming up in the Triangle area:

Feb. 6: Krispy Kreme Challenge (Raleigh) - Wear a fun costume and run 3.1 miles, stopping halfway to eat a dozen donuts. You don't have to eat the donuts
