Here are our favorites.
On the streets
St. Paddy's Day 8K - On March 25, the nOg Run Club will host a morning of running and fun in downtown Raleigh. After the run, celebrate behind the Raleigh Beer Garden with live Irish music, food and beer. All 8K finishers will receive a finishers medal, craft beer and T-shirt. St. Patrick's Day dress is encouraged.
In the bars
St. Patrick's Day Shenanigans - Tir na Nog in downtown Raleigh will team up with sister-pub London Bridge to host this party starting at 11 a.m. on Friday. Expect food, Irish musicians and dance and more. Admission is free.
Glenwood South Goes Green - Two separate street festivals make up this event on both March 11 and March 17 in downtown Raleigh. On March 11, Hibernian Irish Pub and its next-door neighbor Shop Local Raleigh will host a St. Patrick's Day festival filled with the sights and sounds of local Irish culture all day from noon until 11 p.m. The festivities will repeat on March 17 from 6 to 11 p.m. The festivals are free to attend, and food and drinks will be available for purchase. There will be music by Love Tribe and other local artists at both events.
St. Paddy's Day Block Party - On March 18 from 2 to 9 p.m., Milk Bar will take over their block of Tucker Street in downtown Raleigh with a line up of live music, food trucks, outdoor beer and bar tents, games on the street, local artists and retailers and more.
St. Patrick's Day Bar Crawl - Dress up and join NC Event Pics for a holiday bar crawl on St. Patrick's Day. The party starts at Anchor Bar at 6:30 p.m. and goes til 2 a.m. $20 tickets include visits to six popular watering holes along the way and access to prizes.
Shamrock Shuck - This oyster roast and party begins at 11 a.m. on March 18 on the lawn at Oak City Brewing. There will be bagpipers, food trucks, vendors and more.
In the restaurants
Dinner at Tribeca Tavern - Tribecca Tavern in Cary will feature several specials starting at 4 p.m. on St. Patrick's Day. Specials include green beer, stouts, Irish whiskey and specialty cocktails. Menu items include Banger's and Mash, corned beef sandwiches, Guinness glazed wings, Irish creme cheesecake and more.
Dinner at James Joyce Irish Pub - This pub in Durham will celebrate St. Patrick's Day all weekend with bagpipers on Friday afternoon and live music and Irish food all weekend, including corned beef, cottage pie, fish and chips and more.
Doherty's Parking Lot Party - Doherty's in Cary celebrates all weekend with a parking lot party, great food and drink, music, bag pipes, Irish dancers and more. There will also be a Sunday brunch on March 19 complete with Bloody Mary bar.
St. Patrick's Day at Trali - The Irish pub in Morrisville will feature live music from Shanachie and traditional Irish fare.
