Faye, that must be a wonderful memory for you!

LuvstoQ, I would love to have heard the National Symphony! How cool is that!! :)

What great July 4th plans everyone has! My favorite July 4th was the year my parents and all of the grown kids and their families went to Blowing Rock for a few days. We stayed at Chetola Lodge and The NC Symphony played right in front of the lake at the lodge. We all sat around on blankets and listened to them. During their last patriotic piece, they set off a beautiful fireworks display. It was amazing.

luvstoQ and Jdouglas - what great memories of the National Symphony and Boston Pops!

JDOUGLAS13, we have lived here for 21 years and started going there that same year, after some friends told us about it. The weather is 'not' shaping up too well in our favor this year - would not be the first time we've been 'stormed' out!! ;-(

We lived in MD for 6 years (near DC) and went (via the Metro) to the Capitol lawn with a picnic and watched the National Symphony, then the fireworks - 3 times a year, Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day! Always been a great occasion for us!

Luvstoq, I didn't know there was an event like that here. Many years ago I got to see the
Boston Pops live for their fireworks show and it was wonderful.

Raesmom, I'll be thinking of you all. Have a wonderful trip.

After cooking something on the grill . we will sit on the porch or in the yard drinking ice tea (or water) while watching the different "shows " around the community.

Raesmom1612 - Have a safe & GREAT trip ! Happy Birthday to your Dad !

The Town of Morrisville does theirs the day before (July 3rd) so we get to see two shows. We are not going anyway this year so just have to pick one for the 4th!

Our tradition is celebrating Dad's bday on the beach every year but with all that's going on with mom we are switching things up. We are having a party at one of my sisters' house on Saturday (hot dogs, bbq, burgers, the works and fireworks at 10 pm) and then on Sunday (his actual bday) we are all meeting at moms hospital room with a cake to have her take part in singing happy birthday to him :) Cant wait to see the family!!!

Oh, yes, we have gone to the Koka Booth celebration at Regency Park in Cary for many years. The NC Symphony plays right before a huge fireworks show. It's a gorgeous setting around a lake and we take a picnic and enjoy it immensely. We never go away for the 4th because we don't want to miss it!
