Liquor-laden semi stolen

A tractor-trailer loaded with $500,000 in liquor has been stolen from a Clayton parking lot, police said Tuesday.

CLAYTON, N.C. — A tractor-trailer loaded with $500,000 in liquor has been stolen from a Clayton parking lot, police said Tuesday.

The truck was left overnight last Thursday in a lot behind a Bojangles' near the intersection of U.S. Highway 70 Business and Shotwell Road, police said. When the driver returned Friday morning, the truck was gone.

The 2006 Volvo truck cab is hunter green with a white Cowan Systems logo and Maryland registration 541F29. The 53-foot trailer is white and chrome with a Cowan Systems logo on the back doors and Maine license plate 0975737.

The rig was valued at $100,000.
