Link suspected between Sears jewelry heists

Investigators believe that the same man broke into Sears stores in Rocky Mount and Greenville, making off with $35,000 worth of jewelery in the latest incident.

GREENVILLE, N.C. — Investigators believe that the same man broke into Sears stores in Rocky Mount and Greenville over the past month, making off with $35,000 worth of jewelery in the latest incident.

Greenville police said that early last Sunday, a man broke the glass doors at the Sears store at 3600 Memorial Drive and stole gold jewelry.

A similar break-in took place at the Sears store in the Golden East Crossing mall on Feb. 12, police said. Glass doors were also broken and jewelry stolen in that case.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call Greenville police at 252-329-3937 or Pitt/Greenville Crime Stoppers at 252-758-7777. They can also text "PITTGV" and a tip to 274637.
