RALEIGH, N.C. — It is all about live music again this weekend!
Start off the weekend with Keith Urban at Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek on Friday night. On Saturday night, Lil Wayne, T.I. 2 Chainz, Future and more will take the stage at Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek in Raleigh on Saturday night. On Sunday, the Last Summer on Earth Tour featuring Barenaked Ladies, Guster and Ben Folds Five hits the Red Hat Amphitheater.
Another show of note: On Saturday, the Mariposa Music Festival, featuring Jeanne Jolly, celebrates and raises money for the Mariposa School, a national recognized school for those with autism and other developmental delays.
Jeanne Jolly has always been musical. She played piano and harmonica as a child and later took the stage at a Carolina Mudcats game to sing the National Anthem. But when her mother died of ovarian cancer, she picked up the guitar and turned her mourning into music.
West 94th Street Pub in Durham is the site of a grill master cook off on Saturday afternoon. A trip to Las Vegas is on the line so these chefs better bring it! They will be grilling chicken and corn on the cob. Spectators and tasters are encouraged to bring five nonperishable items or a monetary donation for the NC Food Bank. I'm going to be one of the judges, so make sure you stop by the judging table to say hi! The competition starts at 3 p.m.
Also on Saturday, the Fayetteville Street Mall in downtown Raleigh is the site of the annual Splash Bash celebration, a day of fun and games for families. There will be face painting, water-slides, cornhole and inflatables for the children. There will also be live music, food and drinks. It is all to benefit The Boys and Girls Club. Event starts at noon and runs until 10 p.m.
If you need to get a food truck fix, Rebus Works is hosting a food truck rodeo on Saturday from 5-9 p.m. featuring GOUGE Wrestling.
More Saturday fun in Raleigh - the All White Attire Affair is happening from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. at the Raleigh Convention Center. General admission is $25 and VIP tickets are $40. Expect music and lots of great style.
The Carolina Music Awards were held at the Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts in Raleigh on July 6, 2013.
In Durham, Bull City Music Awards will honor the city's best in rock, rap, gospel, country, hip hop and more. The ceremony is Saturday night at the Carolina Theatre.
The Carolina Brewery and Brooklyn Brewery have teamed up for a food and beverage experience this Sunday. Head to Carolina Brewery in Chapel Hill to take a tour through eight beer stations paring their beers with small plates of food. Tickets are $50.
