<b>LOUISBURG, N.C.</b> — A Franklin County church was damaged by fire Saturday afternoon after a lightning strike.<br />

Franklin County communications officials said a bolt of lightning struck the Rock Springs Baptist Church at 3822 N.C. Highway 39 South between Bunn and Louisburg.<br />

Witnesses said flames shot through the roof after lightning struck the steeple. The fire was confined to the steeple and damaged equipment within, but the structure of the church didn't sustain serious damage.
