Barbershop Poet Visits Raleigh

Tonight our Tar Heel traveler crosses paths with a traveling

poet who recites his rhymes and barber shops across the

country

Scott Mason caught up with him at a shop in

Raleigh

Theo Buzz of the barbershop usually comes from the chatter

around the chair but then in strolls Eric L

For L and Eyebrows raise heads turn conversations clipped

The is anyone Clipper and one mirror

All my sheet need is just one share

Forell is a barbershop pope

You want to keep a cut you got to keep

in tow

Wrapping rhyming inspired

And I've written a poem for Barbara's talking about what

barbers do for the community

We're concerned about those who sit in that chair

I'm a hair cutter of course but that ain't all

I am

I'm a councillor

In fact I'm the neighborhood man

Eric has been to more than 800 barbershops and a

year

This one's in raw part of a 50 city tour

that's growing every day

Have any barbers been tempted Give you a haircut A

trim is okay

Just don't cut the message

How to have peace and comfort in life no matter

what goes on around you are with you

Eric has published his poetry which is lined with faith

I had to move first and turn to him when

I realized that it would only get worse

That's one thing I always pray

This forgot to order my steps and his steps have

led

the community
