Pinehurst Resort adds luxury presidential suite

Posted July 7, 2008

— The 107-year-old Pinehurst Resort has added 1,600 square-feet of luxury to its historic property.

The recently opened luxury presidential suite features locally-made pottery, art and furniture and a 60-inch flat screen television.

“We wanted to make sure we were offering just a little bit more than we already had for the presidents, dignitaries and other VIPs that stay here,” said Heather Clemens, of Pinehurst Resort.

Throughout the years celebrities, including Will Rogers, Bing Crosby, Michael Jordan and Oprah Winfrey, have stayed at the famous resort.

The $1,200 per night suite also offers visitors a bath in any one of the soaks featured at the resort’s spa.

“We offer a bath butler service during turn-down so you won’t have to do anything yourself,” Clemens said.

Chef Thierry Debailleul is also on-hand for an in-room dining experience.

“If you want to host a private dinner at night, we’ll custom make a menu for you,” Debailleul said.

Clemens said people have already begun reserving the room.

The suite took about six months to construct and furnish.

Why would anyone want a stranger to run bath water for them? To me that's the equivalent of having someone tie your shoes.....while your naked.

"luxury presidential suite features locally-made pottery, art and furniture and a 60-inch flat screen television."

How is this considered luxury seems like just another room to me.

amazing that they didn't even list any former presidents that stayed at the place. At this point calling it "The Oprah Suite" would get more people to pay for the joint.

Nice of them to make yet another extravagance for the politicians to spend our tax money on!

"Maybe they will give them a 'gas card' if they decide to spend the night."
You won't get a gas card but you do have access to a free Acura if you book the suite.
