PINEHURST, N.C. — The 107-year-old Pinehurst Resort has added 1,600 square-feet of luxury to its historic property.

The recently opened luxury presidential suite features locally-made pottery, art and furniture and a 60-inch flat screen television.

“We wanted to make sure we were offering just a little bit more than we already had for the presidents, dignitaries and other VIPs that stay here,” said Heather Clemens, of Pinehurst Resort.

Throughout the years celebrities, including Will Rogers, Bing Crosby, Michael Jordan and Oprah Winfrey, have stayed at the famous resort.

The $1,200 per night suite also offers visitors a bath in any one of the soaks featured at the resort’s spa.

“We offer a bath butler service during turn-down so you won’t have to do anything yourself,” Clemens said.

Chef Thierry Debailleul is also on-hand for an in-room dining experience.

“If you want to host a private dinner at night, we’ll custom make a menu for you,” Debailleul said.

Clemens said people have already begun reserving the room.

The suite took about six months to construct and furnish.
