Shelby

This is the hometown of David Thompson, who is arguably the ACC's greatest performer. Famous for his incredible leaping ability, Thompson helped North Carolina State University win the 1974 NCAA championship.

Wilmington

Michael Jordan, considered the best NBA player ever, got cut from the varsity basketball team during his sophomore year at Laney High School in Wilmington.

Raleigh

One of the greatest shooters ever, Pete Maravich was a star at Broughton High School in Raleigh. He's the son of N.C. State Coach Press Maravich.

Lewisville

Wake Forest University star Chris Paul calls this his hometown. He plays for the L.A. Clippers and is known as as great, all-around player.

Gastonia

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill superstar James Worthy hails from Gastonia. Worthy's a star with the L.A. Lakers and is nicknamed Big Game James.
