Posted Updated

Have you been on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh lately? Well, it keeps getting better. You’ve probably seen the cool traffic circles and gussied up medians. The new store fronts and improved lighting are also a nice touch. Well, add another positive thing to the street that cuts through the heart of Raleigh.

The renovated district now has its first art gallery. It’s right across the street from the NC State Bell Tower. You can credit the First Lady of NC State as the driving force behind The Roundabout Art Collective that opened today at 2110 Hillsborough St. Susan Woodson is the wife of NC State Chancellor Randy Woodson. She is also a an accomplished painter who led a local effort to transform an old pawn shop into a visual jewel.

Starting today 25 artists are displaying their works at the Roundabout Collective including painter Susan Dahlin who used to be a television personality here at WRAL.

Here is a list of the artists:  Mary Ann Scherr - metals - jewelry, Anna Ball Hodge - painter, Susan Woodson - painter, John Pagliuca - photography, Susan Cannon and Terry Sullivan - Hazel Cole jewelry, Susan Dahlin - painter, Meredith Kittrell - painter, Abie Harris - painter, Dan Dye - silversmith, Ruth Little - painter, Leigh Griffin - jewelry, Anne Atkinson - mixed media and photography, Gaines Bailey - pottery, John Twomey - recycle sculptor, Randy Marcuson - woodwork, Fran Twisdale - jewelry, Sue Edmonson - painter, Yuko Taylor - painter, Grace Martin Franklin - painter, Linda Marcuson - pottery, Sarah Cawn - glass, Linda Kimball - painter, Jack Williams - painter, Charlotte Guice (Olly Oxen): apparel/furniture/sculpture.
