Bill Leslie's Carolina Conversations

My weird world

What was I thinking? Well, I guess I wasn’t. I promised to unveil my five strange habits on Friday but talked about love stories instead on this Carolina Conversations blog. My wife called me out on this oversight and I apologize. So here we go. My five weird personal habits:

(1) I end each morning shower with 30 seconds of cold water to wake me up and yes, even in the dead of winter.
(2) On the way to work I recite a 3 minute tongue twister I have crafted over the years from words and phrases that give me trouble.
(3) I use a personal fan under the anchor desk to keep me cool while I’m delivering the news.
(4) I like to sleep in a soft old pair of jeans when it’s really cold outside.
(5) I sleep with my legs crossed and knees elevated.

There you have it – the weird world of William A. Leslie III.

By the way, say this really fast: “Red leather. Yellow leather. Red leather. Yellow leather. Lips. Teeth. Tip of the tongue. Peanut butter and jelly. Mild-mannered meteorologist Mike Maze and a marvelous Monday forecast.”

(1)Very smart of you for that extra blast of cold. But, it's no worse than pics we see of those in the frozen North going swimming on New Year's Day.
(2)We all have our ways of staying current with our jobs.
(3)I use a fan all the time at work as I'm hot-natured; hubby & I have ceiling fans in our house & they run just about year round.
(4)That is a little different; I'd prefer something softer, like flannel!
(5)All the chiropractors will love you for that position.

I don't think you're weird at all; just very human.

Legswilson: I found it easy too. You're funny!

You're not all that weird. Everyone has strange habits... not strange to them but to others. I actually found the tongue twister very easy and that scares me! LOL

if I had to get up every morning when you do Bill, it would take more than 30 seconds of cold water to wake me up.

I would like to hear the tongue twister!

Bill, I do the exact same thing, but with both my morning and evening showers! My wife detests this habit, but I find that it helps me to cool down after the shower as well. I read somewhere that by ending a hot shower with a brief rinse of cold water, your pores tend to close and keep the warmth in better then getting a straight hot shower.

And you seem so NORMAL on TV!!!!!! LOL! That's a great list. As cold as it is in that studio, I can't imagine that you also need a fan to keep you cool. Love the tongue twister -- it's almost impossible. That's why you are the professional!!!
