Wild Beauty

Posted Updated

What is the most wild and scenic place you have ever visited? What was the feeling when you were there?

A stirring of the heart happened when I visited Fiordland on the South Island of New Zealand last year. I felt like Fiordland contained a part of my soul and I needed to explore its wilds to find that special place of connection. I recall how sad I was when I had to leave Milford Sound and head north toward the cities with big airports that would send me home to America.

Graham Dainty doesn’t have to worry about vacations coming to an end. He lives on the edge of Fiordland National Park. This award-winning photographer gets to witness and capture Fiordland's ever changing majesty each day. Graham and I have teamed up for a photo/music essay called Way Down South. It begins with the beguiling voice of bellbirds in the primeval forest of Fiordland.   I would love to get your feedback.
