Sunrise - Sunset

Where is your favorite place to watch a sunrise or sunset? Please share your stories. Also, please share your photographs. Send them to bleslie@wral.com. I’ll put together another slideshow featuring your images. The best of the best will win a CD prize.

While you’re thinking about these questions, I wanted to share with you my favorite place to watch a new day dawn. It’s also a romantic setting in the evening. I hope you will enjoy this mini movie called “Glade Valley.” It’s both a place and a song on my Simple Beauty album.

Glade Valley is in the northwest mountains near Roaring Gap in Alleghany County just off the Blue Ride Parkway. It’s a three-hour drive from Raleigh but a world away in terms of atmosphere. I bought a little cottage in Glade Valley a dozen years ago and it offers the perfect retreat. I always come back to the Triangle recharged and ready to go. Many times I come back with a bunch of fresh songs and melodies. That was the case this past week.

These are some of my favorite images from the Glade Valley area over the last two years. I’d love to get your feedback. Also, I can’t wait to see your fiery images.

I am thrilled you like the music lollie & Hugz - you can get the album online at www.billleslie.com or at Quail Ridge Books & Music in Raleigh among others.

The music is so beautiful, relaxing, and sweetly haunting in a way. Love it so much. The photos..what can I say but beautiful. I have requested your album for a Christmas present but I may not wait that long because the music soothes my stressed spirit so much. I think I need it now. :)

Love the music and the video. Where can I find your album?

Nicsnanni - thanks for your kind story. I'm glad we could bust a little stress in your world!

jeanmurray - I love the way you write Mama - that's what I called my mother. Thanks for sharing the video with your sweet Mama and inspiring me to plan a trip to the mountains of Virginia. It's on my list.

wow, thank you, The music and video were just what I needed while sitting at my desk working way to hard. That made me sit back, take a deep breath and relax, if just for the moment! :)

The music and video are awesome! My mother shared her love of the sunsets, sunrises, fall colors, flowers, and mountains with me as far back as I can remember- and I have done the same with my children. Mama is 78 now and is not able to go as often as she would like to, but I shared your video and song with her last night and she got tears in her eyes. She asked me to thank you for sharing! We were traveling the Parkway from Natural Bridge down to Shenandoah and there was an overlook called Raven's Roost- it was crowded when we got there and when I got out of my car I could see why- the sun was setting over the valleys there and it was breathtaking! We sat on the rock wall with about 50 other people and watched the amazing work of God. Such good memories.

Thanks cindylowery and hlpittman! Glade Valley is not yet discovered which I like! And I've been getting some great photos but I need some more.

Beautiful pictures and great music. I very much enjoyed the last blog, the movie and all the great pictures, looking forward to seeing the submitted photos and the video you make from them.

That was a great show and wonderful music. When I was young girl I would go on a retreat yearly with women from my church to Glade Valley, it brought back wonderful memories.
