Struggling for a name

Posted May 27, 2010

What is your favorite song title or musical album title of all time? Maybe it's funny, powerful or poignant. Whatever it is please share.

I've been thinking a lot lately about what to call my new CD coming out in September. For months I've been leaning toward "Simple Beauty" to describe a collection of songs featuring four traditional Irish melodies and eleven of my own tunes inspired by the ancient Celtic melodies. Lately I've been wavering. "Celtic Beauty" seems to fit now. But I am not totally sure. I need to make a final decision within a week or two.

There is a song on my album called "Walking Rufus." It was inspired by my 8 month old puppy who is the sweetest dog I've ever known. A friend suggested I should call the album "Walking Rufus" or "Celtic Cock-a-poo." I thought that was pretty funny.  I can see Rufus in a kilt on the cover!

If any of you have suggestions I would love to consider them.

all of them are really good names, but i have to agree with info68, Walking Rufus, for the reason mentioned, your dog and your music mean something to you, great way to honor your pet.
as far as my favorite album title...Dark Side of the Moon

WOW I guess I visited a little too late today because I can't come up with anything better than the current suggestions. I lke them all. I don't know how you're going to choose . . .

I'll agree with the suggestion of Simply Celtic. Nice, clear, and easy to remember.

As for favorite album titles of all time, I have always liked "Days of Future Passed" by the Moody Blues and for sheer whimsy, "You Can Tune a Piano but You Can't Tuna Fish" by REO Speedwagon. Both back from the days when album cover art was as interesting (or more interesting) as the title.

I like Walking Rufus. It means something to you and really isn't that what it is all about?! Your music, your inspiration and your dog....never underestimate the love of a southern man for his dog...:)
