Vanity plates

Posted April 19, 2010

If you had to purchase a personalized license plate for your car, what would it say? Also, what is the most unusual vanity plate you have seen? And finally, if you have a personalized plate, please share your message.

I saw one yesterday that made me think. The vehicle was a black and shiny SUV with fancy and highly polished chrome wheel covers. The message on the plate: YOU LIED. My guess is that the vehicle may have been the product of a broken marriage. What are your thoughts?

Tomorrow we'll do bumper stickers.

One of my favorites was on a 66 Pinto: KaBoom. If you recall, when hit from behind, their gas tanks had a tendency to rupture...

My favorite was a plate that read 2&BEYOND - on an Infiniti :-)

I have a commentary on the issue of fees for vanity plate renewal. I understand the first time you get it, you should pay extra for the making of the plate. However, from then on, every renewal is double the price. Since they only make it once, it is a ripoff to keep paying the double charge every year to renew it on paper. Does anyone else have a problem with this?

I had a Monte Carlo with a personalized tag that said "Luvs #24". Of course being the big Jeff Gordon fan that I am (and of course Scott Riggs!)

Also, I saw a plate on a minivan which must have belonged to a Star Trek fan. It said: BOLDLYGO. :)
