Bill Leslie's Carolina Conversations

Best Holiday Restaurant

Posted December 16, 2009

What’s the best North Carolina restaurant for the holidays ahead?  Where can you go to relax in a beautiful holiday setting and enjoy delicious food?

I have several local favorites including the Angus Barn, 18 Seaboard, Maximillians and Second Empire.  But don’t listen to me.  Offer your own favorites and tell us why.

Let’s compose an impressive list.

The Top of the Tower Restaurant inside the Clarion (round hotel downtown formally Holiday Inn) has the best view of downtown!

Bill Leslie must have never been to Sullivans off Glenwood! This restaurant bets Angus Barn HANDS DOWN!

Hard to beat the Angus, but I really enjoy "The top of the tour" restaurant on top of the Clarion in downtown Raleigh. Nicely decorated and it gives you a fantastic view over the sparkling city. Really puts you in the Christmas spirit.

I'm with you Bill on the Angus Barn. We were there last week and their live Christmas Elves, fresh gingerbread men cookies and the homey atmosphere made for a nice romantic dinner with the wife. Can't resist that chocolate chess pie!

No doubt Wilson has the best BBQ but if you're in the mood for fine dining you need to try Quince. The food is delectable and the atmosphere is very nice.

My family will be going to Neo Asia this year. Since my sister is a Vegan, it's always a challenge to find a place where we can all find something good to eat. Neo Asia has a wonderful, peaceful atmosphere and excellent food.

"Parkers BBQ in Wilson - fantastic!" For a special holiday meal?! No offense but it's just decent barbecue.
