The Coolest Middle Name

Thank you. Thank you very much! I just won the WRAL newsroom “Coolest Middle Name” contest. Augustus is my middle name. It’s an old family name that’s been passed down at least four generations. Some days I like it. Other days it seems pretentious. My friends bring me down to size by calling me Willie Gus.

What is your middle name? I’ll give the following prizes to the person with the coolest middle name: a copy of my book and CD Blue Ridge Reunion and a pair of tickets to the Bill Leslie & Lorica concert at Louisburg College tonight 10/16/09.  You will also have a chance to see my father’s art exhibit which opens today at Louisburg. By the way, his middle name was Augustus, too.

And now the winner of the Art Contest: dnrkearney2!  Please send me your email so I can tell you about your prizes. Thanks!

I know this is a little late but you've got another Augustus here, and it is also my father's middle name, and my grandfather's middle name. That's 3 Harold Augustus' and none of us use (or used) Harold or Augustus.

My middle name is Kay. My mom's middle name is also Kay. Interestingly enough.. my dad's middle name is Ray, and they BOTH go by their middle names. So it's Ray and Kay. I have a friend whose middle name is Sevier (pronoucned "Severe")

When I was about 25 I found out that my mother did not spell my middle name correctly. I was supposedly named after my great-grandfather on my mother's side, Thomas Edmund ... but apparently it took my grandmother those 25 years to inform my mother she got it wrong, as he was actually Thomas Edmond. Oh, well.

BTW ... "the" in thefensk actually stands for THomas Edmund; this was a suggested username on some website a long time ago and I liked it.

My middle name is Beatrice. Maybe it's not so unusual, but I think it is quite sophistecated now although I didn't fell like that when I was younger and getting teased about it. However, it is my mother's name, and she was a special lady who passed away to breast cancer 10 years ago today. I have passed "Beatrice" on to my youngest daughter who also shares it as her middle name Julia Beatrice. Mu father's name was also a little unusual. His middle name was Harding. My aunt said that it came from our US President Harding at that time.

My dad's name was Ryan Delano Perkins, after Franklin Delano Roosevelt - he was born during the Depression and I guess FDR was a hero of sorts to my grandparents...my brother got the name too, as a junior...
