Art Contest

What was your favorite art project? Any funny stories you’d like to share?

I was never very good at art. I could barely draw a stick figure as a kid. I loved art and still do but I just don’t have a knack for drawing and painting.

My favorite art project is one beginning this Friday at Louisburg College. It involves my father’s art. Louisburg College is opening a special month-long exhibit of William Leslie’s mountain watercolors. We will kick things off Friday night, October 16, with an 8:00PM concert by my band, Bill Leslie & Lorica, Plus, for the first time we will publicly unveil at Louisburg College nearly 30 paintings from my dad’s collection. We’re calling the exhibit and concert “Blue Ridge Reunion” based on the title of a book and CD about my dad’s art work.

Tickets to the concert are available by calling the Louisburg College Box Office at (919) 497-3300 (local) or toll-free at 1–866-773-6354. Tickets may also be purchased at the door on the day of show. The Box Office is open Monday through Friday, from 1-5 p.m. in the main lobby of the Louisburg College’s Frances Boyette Dickson Auditorium, as well as one and a half hours before show time. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, and seats are not reserved. Tickets may also be purchased on-line at www.louisburg.edu

I’ll give a pair of tickets to the concert and gallery exhibit to the person with the best art story. Maybe it’s a tale about a treasured family heirloom or something humorous from your childhood or perhaps a trip to a gallery.

Paint us a picture with your clever words.
