People are always asking me where to take vacation. What's a cool place? What's the most scenic drive? Carolina Conversations attempts to answer those questions and others.

Pet Peeve Thursday

It’s pet peeve Thursday. What’s been getting under your skin lately? It’s okay. Go ahead and push the button labeled “Annoyances.”

I’ve got a pet peeve I’d like to share – people who go to the post office totally unprepared. I love the folks who work at the post office on Avent Ferry Road in Raleigh including Tony, Romeo, Sharon, Dale and Linda. They are always cheerful, helpful and highly professional. I was in there the other day and this guy had three things to mail but he had no boxes, sketchy address information and simply no clue about common courtesy.

The staff handled the situation with poise and patience but I felt sorry for the people in line waiting to get their packages mailed. Is it too much to ask for someone to package, tape and address their items before they arrive at the post office?

It’s really not that hard.

Okay, it’s your turn. What’s your pet peeve this week?

My neighbor throws grass clippings and dead bushes into my yard. I think this is so RUDE!

I hear you Bill. The staff at Millbrook Road and Departure are great also. When they get a customer like the one you have described, they always give them what they need and ask them to go to a work table to complete it so everyone else in line can be waited on quickly. That seems only fair.

My pet peeve is always about terrible drivers. No turn signals, no headlights in rainy or dark conditions and rude, aggressive driving...I can't go 2 miles in Raleigh without meeting up with this type of driver!

I have neighbors that complain when I throw grass clippings and dead bushes in their yard :-) (just kidding bubbette)

Waiting in line in the grocery store and then the person ahead of you suddenly realizes they FORGOT something and send a juvenile to get it. Grrrrrrrrrrr nuf said.

People who except a job as it was offered. When treat everyone they come in contact with like we made them take the job beneath them!

makeohane, that is funny,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I needed that! I was taking myself to serious again!

my pet peeves are when people don't throw their paper products in the trash when they are done with them. cups, plates, straws, etc. also get upset when people don't recycle! today no more plastic in trashcans!! yeah!! yes,Bill the folks at avent ferry post office are so friendly and helpful!! go heels!

My pet peeve - trying to check out at a store, waiting in a long line because there is only one register open. What's the problem. There are plenty of people working, why can't they open another checkout.

My all time pet peeve is "Press 1 for English"

People in front of me in line at the convenient store buying lottery tickets.
